A challenge I had to overcome in Vancouver.

It was about 1 week ago, I had planned to go to a party but I got lost. After missing my dinner because my homestay mother was later than she expected, I took the 210 bus to phoebs exchange and normally to downtown... So, I caught this bus without even watching what was written on it because it had become an habit. In fact, I had already been taking this bus for 2 months. After a 5 minutes stop at phoebs exchange , I realized that I was going to west vancouver. I was really stressed because I had an appointment with other students from Tamwood to go in a pub and I have no cell phone here... Moreover, in two months, it was the first time it happened to me... I had been dreaming 5 minutes too much... I didn't know what to do because on one hand I didn't want to wait for a long time outside because it was freezing. On the other hand, I didn't want to stay there and get completely lost. So, I waited for a few minutes in the bus to think about the situation and while thinking I heard that the following busstop had a connection with the skytrain. As hearing it, I decided to take the skytrain. When I reached the station I asked sombedody if he could explained me how to go to burrard station. After listening to the explanation I finally arrived downtown. I was late but I wasn't alone because there are a lot of spanish people in the school who are always late ;) In the end, I spent a wonderful evening telling everybody this stupid story which happened to me.

Eavesdropping

Today in the 210 bus to North Vancouver, a +/- 19 years old girl was on the phone. She explained to somebody of her family (I think it was her dad) that she wanted to book a flight to go to LA to see her best friend. She added that she had looked on the Internet to find the cheapest way to go there. She had noticed that taking one direct flight from Vancouver to LA is much more expensive than first taking a bus to Seattle and then taking a plane. She also mentioned that the price of the flight from Seattle to LA was only 80 American dollars for one way. She queried the person on the phone if he or she could help her to book the flight because she had never done it before. Finally, she confessed that she was really excited about the idea to go to LA for Christmas because she hadn’t seen her best friend for one year.

A yoga retreat in the Sri Lankan jungle...

What do you think about trying a new type of vacation...? Personally, I have always had All- inclusive resorts and I would like to change it for a yoga retreat in a jungle. In my opinion, it's the right kind of vacation to put your feet up and relax. You don't have to worry about traffic jams and line-ups anymore which can get on your nerves in your normal life ; your mind take vacation as well: no more cell phones (because you can't find any network), no more computers,no more television... Moreover, a jungle is a quiet place and while doing some yoga you can put your problems aside and ask yourself what you expect for your future. A jungle is also a place where you can breath fresh air instead of the constant polluted area in your country. Besides, while going in the jungle you have the opportunity to sleep under the sky and watching beautiful stars (and who knows, you might see a falling star, making one of your wishes becoming true). Finally, it's the best vacation for people who are found of animals, who want to enjoy the nature and who want to adpat themselves to the lifestyle in the bush (have you ever tried to hunt?). Although, you have to rough your life but it just helps you to become more autonomist and responsible!

What I have already done and what I would like to do...

What I would never do:
- I would never fill my home with antique furniture or with abstract art because I just hate it; I prefer modern things!
- I would never buy a flashy car because I don t like flashy colours and when people stare at me!

I would (secretly) like to:
- dye my hair in orange for halloween and in an other colour for my every day life because I just like changes.
- have my navel pierced but I hesitate because it can be dangerous..(However, I have already pierced my ear !)
- I would like somebody to offer me an expensive meal in a chic restaurant (and why not by a good looking man!?)
- I would be able to spent $500 on an ornament if I like it very much!

I have already:
- been in a fast-food restaurant wearing pijamas...
- spent more than $100 on a haircut
- covered my walls with photos of my favourite rock star...(who has never done it before? Be fair!)
- wore pijamas with cute cartoon characters on them (Mine was the lion king! What about yours?)
